Filmer Spicer died from wounds on 6th October, 1916 but as yet there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. The 111th Company of the Machine Gun Corps was part of 111 Brigade, 37th Division that had been on the Western Front since July, 1915 and had taken part in some of the early fighting on the Somme in July, 1916 before moving north to the Loos sector.
